You have not given us enough information about your firearm. Does the barrel indicate what caliber it is? If it was designed for the 44-40, then no.

With few exceptions, do not use ammo in a firearm that it was not designed for.

Winchester never made a 1894 in 32 SW long short or otherwise -
Are you mabe meaning 32 Special?

There are MULTIPLE 32s, but the odds are your Winchester is not in .32 S&W long. There are 32-20s (on the left) 32-40s (middle) and most likely suspect, .32 Winchester Special on right.
