I've come across a Luger that is a Reichswehr 1921 marked to Ausbildungs-Squadron/ Reiter Regiment 8. The training squadron for the 8th Reiter(Cavalry)Regiment. I.e. a 1921 DWM Army luger. The front sight is non-typical, and obviously a redo from the original. The sight is one-piece, and threaded on to the end of the barrel. The "sight band" is also numbered the same as all of the other gun parts including the barrel. One thought is that this was originally a longer barrel that was cut down to comply with the Treaty of Versailles. It therefor would have been factory modified and put back in to service. I have not seen another barrel that has been modified in this way. In the attached photos, the barrel in question is shown on the left or bottom, alongside a standard barrel for comparison. The height is the same, and the shape is basically the same. Any thoughts on this? and/or has anyone seen a similar modification on a P08.?
