Just bought a chinese type 53, ditching the wood stock for ATI black synthetic, my question is do i need the barrel bands and if so how do i get them off, if i don't need them i'll to cut them. Can i put a scope on somehow if I remove the leaf sights?

But for the barrel band, on my M91/30 I can take off the rear one but the front one is too small to fit over the front sight, I'm not sure how that is for the T53's, but I've seen scope tapped and put behind the rear sight and sometimes on the chamber wall
