Default Stevens Model 311E. Firing Problems

My Stevens Model 311 E is firing just as the barrels are closed. The firing pins don't appear to be protruding. Fingers ARE off the double triggers. Sometimes just one barrel fires and other times both will fire. Any repair suggestions appreciated......

As a certified Smith I'm telling you to NOT try fixing this yourself. Take it to a GOOD gun smith

I think I agree with Marlinman. This is best left to a smith. There could be many things that might be causing this. For sure do not put any live ammo in the gun until it is fixed. Normally I'm all for the fix-it-yourself but not this time.

Hint: When you see the smith, explain the symptoms, not the probable cause.

As a car mechanic told me once, "If you know what the F$CK the problem is, then why do you need me? Fixit ya-self!"

Explain the problem and let him analyze. You have enough info to see if he knows his stuff.
