Sportsman 48 2+1 to 4+1
Hi everyone, n00b here again. I have a Remington Sportsman 48 w/ cZZ Man code (last year of double digit Man. codes) in 12 ga. autoloader (3 shot) with 18" barrel. I do want to get rid of this thing but was noticing that some people have mentioned taking them to a gunsmith and the gunsmith takes out the dimples so that it changes it from a 2+1 to a 4+1. If anyone knows anything about this or how much this would cost, could you respond? I am just interested in finding out so that I know a little bit more about guns. Thanks.

They're talking about ironing them out with a mag tube dent remover. It shouldn't cost more than 50$ to have your gunsmith do this.

Sweet. Yeah, I just talked to a OLDER local gunsmith in the town closest to mine and he said it would be the minimum of $35 +parts (if he had to change the spring which he didn't think he would have to). First he asked me "What would you want to do a thing like that for? That's only a two shot gun!

2 to 4
Do you have to install a new magazine tube or is the old one long enough?
|
The old one is long enough. I guess they just changed the magazine of an older gun to only hold that amount (because I guess from what I have read, the Sportsman 48 was a variation of another shotgun) because of some sort of bird shooting laws. I am a n00b to guns.

Thanks for the info - I have Rem mod 58 sportsman that has the same 'issue'

Yep. Stupid, silly 'issues' always getting in the way and making guns less cool...LOL
