Bought a s&w sigma 9 for my wife about 2 months ago and been shooting it a little myself. I know that the safety is in that heavy trigger but is it possible to get a trigger job done to it? Does anyone know what a normal finger pull for a pistol is?

It varies by gun and purpose of the gun. A competition gun will have a lighter trigger pull than a carry gun. Guns like the Sigma the trigger is the safety and you really don't want to radically alter it. Also most shooters like to shoot a couple hundred "break in " round through the pistol to get a true feel for it. On any SD or carry gun if you are not an experienced armorial or gunsmith I would strongly suggest finding one to do the work.

I agree with bear.

You will find that the more you shoot it (including dry-fire with snap caps), the smoother it will get.
Shihan has a video of his young man shooting his (The World's Greatest Sigma), and the lad does not seem to have a problem with trigger. But Shihan probably has a few rounds through it.

I guess I'll give it sometime. She has shot it more than me. I'm use to the 3 lbs trigger in my rifle. She doesn't seem to have to much trouble with it.

Which midel of Sigma? There are/were several. The 9F and C had decent triggers. The V model was rougher and heavier. The current VE series are really heavy. The design is essentially the same, so there must be something that can be done. I agree that dry fire is the first and formost step. Even S&W Performance Center does not even start a trigger job on any gun until it has been dry fired at least 1000 times.

It is a model ve. So dry firing won't damage anything? I was told a long ago that it will mess up the firing pin.
