Removing fire damage
Hi:
I bought a knife pistol (Peavey) that has some fire damage. It's intact mechanically but the blade has black stains. I tried polishing the stains out but all I have now are SHINY STAINS! The blade is thin and brittle and I'd like to avoid agressive polishing / sanding to remove the stains. Is there any chemical treatment that would work? Appreciate any help. |
Anybody asks---tell them they are blood stains.

You can try bluing/rust remover.

Thanks for the input.
The bluing /rust remover might be worth trying. Any other thoughts out there? |
I'v heard rumors around that using white vineger and rubbing the metal with aluminium foil removes stains on metal. Apparently they react and it creates a strong cleaning agent. However I'v never tried it.
Maybe a acid based bore cleaner might work? But be very carefull with that, its nasty stuff. |
Thanks for the idea. I'll give it a try
