Removing action pins
I recently picked up some older rifles I want to completely disassemble and clean. I have read several articles about removing the pins commonly found in actions. Many have conflicting advice on the removal of these. Some say left to righ and others say right to left. Is there a rule of thumb for removing these. I know "try one way if it doesn't work flip it over". I'd rather have the odds in my favor from the start. Thanks for any help!

Most stuff is left to right. Just like the shell ejects.

Depends on the gun.
Most it doesnt matter since most arent tapered. Some its easier to do left to right. Just depends on the gun and the part in question since like some rugers and 1911's its right to left. |
Get a magnifying glass and you should be able to see which direction it was installed

Many older Colts (and some other makes) used tapered one way pins. For those it makes a difference.

Thanks for the info guys. As for a magnifying glass...I actually have a table mounted unit with a light in it I need to get mounted.
