Default Remington 870 gunsmith advice wanted

Iv got a 1187 compact 20 gauge for my 7 yr old and its still to long it has a synthic stock can I buy a wooden stock for a 870 20 gauge to cutt short to fit?? Will stock inner change on a 1187 to a 870?? Can't seem to find a wood stock for 1187 but I can find them for the 870! Please help before I waste money. Thank u

Go to numrich, brownells or whatever your favorite gun parts site might be. See if the same part number works on both guns. I have never tried to use a 870 stock on a 1187. The fore stock will not work and I really doubt the butt stock is going to work.

in the automatic the recoil spring is in the stock, so no the 870 stock will not work.

The automatic needs a big hole in the stock to accommodate the recoil spring and tube.
