Can anyone who has a Remington Model 788 22-250 Please give me the measurement in thousands from the rear to the front edge of the locking lugs. My nephew has the rifle and someone has polished the Bolt to a bright finish. He is curious if they removed metal thereby increasing the head space. I do not have or not for sure what head space gauge would be used. If I remember correctly? The 22-250 cartridge originated from the 250 Savage Round. And I have other head space gauges but no 250 it it would be the one? Any measurements, measurements with digital pictures, schematics would be appreciated. He just was given the weapon form his uncle.

I am sorry I left out one important question. I believe if I remember the Bolt had 9 Locking Lugs on it. Are they all theoretically the same dimension rear to front or front to back? Of course that is why they were so accurate. I sold my 788 Remington 22-250 years ago. But the darn thing would outshoot the Remington 700 BDL in 243 I had.
