Default remington 742

Can you do a trigger job on a 742 the thing has a 10 lb pull and about 1/8 inch slop in the trigger any help would be nice

Yes. You can work the hammer and sear for a better pull, or check your Brownell's catalog. Timney offers a trigger fix for the 870 which also fits the 742/7400 that is a sear and springs and is adjustable, and I believe it's the Accuracy Speaks part that is a new hammer and spring.

It's also a simple procedure to switch the safety over to a lefty in these trigger groups, at least the older ones without the ISS system.
