Remington 742
 

Does anyone know a gunsmith who fixes the (welds) the receiver on remington 742s,thanks,Dan.

It's getting hard to find people to work on the 742 most say it's a wall hanger . The rail were most of this guns problem lays can still be purchased in 30 06 . I like my 742 if you keep looking you will find some to fix but you may have to mail it . Good luck I would like to see pics of problem area there is a gun smith up here in Maine that takes lots of projects like this.

I also like my 742.I bought a model 750 new, but its not the same.I sent the gun out to washington state and had it fixed once but it didnt last.It is the worn out rails.Im half temped to try to fix it myself,but I dont want to destroy it.I may try to find a bad receiver and experiment with that if I cant find someone to fix it right.I just dont want to hang it on the wall either,I have killed alot of deer with it and it really means something to me.If you or anyone else know of someone let me know.Im not afraid to ship it.Thanks,Dan. Im in missouri and i do smith work-im certified. It all depends on just how bad the rails are as to if its fixable mon ami

Yes I would like to see if there still fixing them . If you get it fixed take some before and after pics . Good luck
