Default Rem 870 Breech Bolt Assembly

I have a polished breech bolt assembly on my Remington 870. I was wondering if I can Parkerize this without affecting the operation. I want to have a matte wear resistant finish. Any suggestions?

Parkerizing is the antithesis of smooth. You will negate any polishing benefits by parkerizing it. Non-glare, smooth finish? NP-3

The polished bolt is mostly cosmetic. Do what you want to it.

There's enough slop in an 870 I wouldn't worry about it.
