If you are shooting something like a 500 S&W or shooting in competition, I can see why you want your gun ported (or compensated) but for about everything else I don't see much reason. Unless you just want it, that I can understand too!

I have a Glock 20 with a compensator attached to the barrel. I have found that it has less muzzle flip and a louder report. I have been using it in various bowling pin shooting matches and like the feel and extra weight of it. That's just my personal preference.

I have a 6" SW mod 29 in .44 that I had Magna Ported, the gun was basically unshoot able without porting, with porting it is my favorite sidearm.

I have not noticed more "report" or "muzzle flash", having said that the holes or slits that were cut in the barrel were very slight. I have noticed especially on automatic pistols that the ports are huge which probly accounts for the back flash and seeming loader report.

I don't know if magna port is still in bussiness but if you have a gun that needs to be de-kicked try them they did a great job for me.

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but does any one know a decent compensator for 40 or 9?
When they kick out your front door, how you gonna come. With your hands on your head or on the trigger of your gun?
