Parts for S&W Model 63
A couple of years ago, while hunting, I found a S&W model 63 4" barrel on the mountain. It is in very good condition except for one small problem, the hand torsion spring is broken and needs to be replaced. I don't have any S&W gunsmiths in my area so I was wondering if there was anywhere online that I could order the part. Any suggestions?

You found the gun? What are you planning on doing when it is traced to a murder? Personally I would turn it in.

It most likely fell out of a holster while someone was hiking or hunting. Rivers are where you deposit your murder weapons.

Looks like Part #71 is what you need.

It is time consumming but you can also surf through the big gun sites in the parts sections and find about any thing. Gun broker , Auction arms , Gunsamerica , Guns international for new and used parts. The model 63 is a highly sought after model and a sweet heart of a revolver. Some ones heart breaking loss I am sure. But good you found it and a lucky day for you.

I,m going to add something here, First I,d have the serial # checked by Police.... Second I'll tell a little story.. One man I worked with was rideing his horse, lost a revolver...Another friend finds it and went straight to a pawn shop to pawn it. The police was summoned because the first fellow go scared and turned it in as stolen. The second guy was on his way to jail when the first guy was contacted. He then told police it was not reported as stolen, but lost. so all ended up ok... But realy, I'd check with police to see if it was reported as stolen. May save some trouble but if not reported as stolen, you get to keep it...

Brownell's is also a source for parts for the gun.

Just so some of you can breath easier, I am retired Law Enforcement, I was not retired at the time I found the weapon so it has been checked several times to make sure it wasn't stolen, reported as lost, or used in any crime. I appreciate the sites suggestions, I'm looking forward to getting it back in good firing condition.
