Default Need some help with an Arisaka T-38

This is posted in the C&R section, but if any of you gunsmith folks can offer any help or advice here I'd appreciate it.

It sounds like you either need the right ammo, or have a headspace problem to me.

By the looks of the popped primers you can almost measure the increase in headspace. The light primer strikes happened after a successful group?

Sounds like something failed, did you check the bolt lugs for cracks? What does the bolt face look like? Receiver didn't crack at the barrel interface did it?

I'm not familiar with the Arisaka so I could be just thinkin' out load.

The reason for the light primer strikes is the firing pin smacked the cartridge, thereby shoving it forward in the chamber. Since the cartridge was shoved forward, the primer wasn't struck hard enough to ignite it. I suggest you take it to a gunsmith and have him check the headspace or make a chamber cast.
