My stainless front sight blade is too hard to see!

I took my S&W Model 642-2 to the range today, and found the sights, and especially the front sight, were almost invisible!

Back in the days when I had a job, I used to carry one of these, and it was not a problem picking up the sights. I liked that gun so much, I bought one after I retired.

But I am beginning to suspect that my eyes are not as good as they used to be. Street signs have become hazy and hard to read, television programs and movies are getting blurry, and small print is much smaller than it used to be. I am beginning to think my eyes might be getting old!

The tiny rear notch on the little J-frame Smith was always annoying, but the front sight blade in particular is really hard to see now. In the Middle Ages, we used to paint front sight blades with nail polish, White-Out, or the same stuff we painted our houses with.

My question is, has modern gunsmithing science given us any better materials to light up that skinny front sight blade than nail polish or White-Out? That stuff tended to wear or chip off pretty quickly. Any better home gunsmithing options these days?

Please, help a blind man. Help me.

That paint for model cars is frequently recommended with an overcoat of clear fingernail polish. I like the orange sticker stuff from Glow On.

I use Krylon appliance touch up paint for my front sight just to give myself a better see. It stays on real well and dose not wear out to quick.

I bought a bottle of bright orange fingernail polish.
