Being of a rather short and stocky stature, with accompanying short arms, I have had a problem w/ stock length of pull all of ny life. If I cut the stock I have to be darn sure I want to keep the gun as this can sometimes ruin the collector or resale value. Sometimes, just the thickness of the standard butt plate or recoil pad is enough to remove. What do I replace it with? So, I came up w/ the idead of cutting out a thin butt plate from plexiglas by scoring and then finishing the edge to the wood w/ my moto tool. I lightly sand the side that goes to the wood and spray paint it any color I want. You may laugh, but it works for me. Then, if I sell the gun, I just remove the plexiglas plate and put the original pad back on.

Whatever works, friend. I just hope you don't try that on something that packs a whollup!

How would that hold up with flat top screws?

Flat top screws would not work too well as the edge would be sticking out and could catch on something. I have not had to use it on anything very big. My .25-06 is the heaviest rifle and I have them on a couple of 12 gauge shotguns. Recoil has not been a problem.
