Mossberg 88 customize

I have a 28 inch cheap mossberg shotty, what would be involved with shortening the barrel to maybe 22 to maybe even 18 inches? is this something that a smith would do? about how much and would they be able to re install the bead?

if not concerned with a screw in choke, then you can buy a new 18.5" barrel for it for about $80. MidwayUSA has them for the Mossberg 500 which will fit the Maverick M88.

the Maverick M88 is the economy version of the Mossberg 500, and Maverick is owned by Mossberg. they are decent shotguns, but the 500 is a better shotgun. i have one with the 28" barrel that i bought last year for $120. i got it for the wife so she could shoot snakes with it if she needed to.

Average cost to cut and crown barrel would be around $45 to $60, could be more or less depending on your area and the gunsmith. To install a front bead, $35 to $40, give or take.

Thanks for the info guys, talked to a guy that said he had one and didn't use it, so I took it off his hands for a 100, figured what the hell, I like them for what they are.
