personally if it shoots good, just leave it be. i think trying to put a different barrel on it will lessen it's value and be more a PITA than it's worth. there are way better guns for building than the Mosin. like JonM suggested, the Savage can be done at home without needing a bunch of specialized tools or a lathe to change barrels. most critical tool needed are a set of no-go and go gauges in the caliber of your choice. plus the Savages have lots of parts and accessories available for them. and they are wickedly accurate!

Yea there are online modeling the stock i have with the regular size barrel and it doesn't look to bad. I did all this for around three hundred and the bolt my uncle did for me.

Yea i agree i also don't have much time to be working with a new barrel so i will look into the savage. That's for the help!

You could always spend 100 dollars on a longer barrel model Mosin Nagant,(M91/30) and drop that in the stock. The 91/30 barrel is around 52 inches long, so some length might balance the overall look of the rifle.
