Default M17 action-will it take .45 calibres

I've have in my possession for a while a M17 action that had a .243 barrel in it which was stuffed and I've heard that you can use it to take a .45 calibre barrel.
My question is what will I have to do to the bolt face and will this action take the pressures associated with a .45 calibre.I have a .45 calibre barrel from A&B and it seems like this could be a worthy project as I'm thinking of a .458 AccRel,regards

Which M17? The Enfield Match rifle, or the Bushmaster AR style? The Enfield was used to create a VERY neat supressed carbine known as the DeLisle- in 45 ACP. The pressures of a .243 are MUCH higher than a .45 ACP, but bolt face does need modifying (and extractor) to handle the auto pistol case. Yours may have a modified extractor now- but check head diameter on .45 ACP and .243- I'm on the road, and don't have calipers w/ me.

It's a Eddystone 1917 action.Heres' a few pics of the action.As far as I know I'm sure it's a military action.It's got a "W" stamped on the bolt with a "5N" stamped near it.

I built a 458 Win Mag on a 1917 knuckle buster several years ago. It will take the pressure. Be sure to straighten out the bolt handle.

The 1917 action will accept .458 cartridges as long as they're not too long for it. The bolt face will have to be opened up.

Sorry I didn't mention the bolt face.
