Looking for a part
I have a glenfield model 70 .22 cal it's a semi auto. It has not been firing correctly so I broke it down and found the problem. Im not exactly sure what this spring would be called, I'm thinking it's the recoil spring, the firing pin Goes inside of the spring. I've had this rifle since I was about 10 years old. Does anyone know where I could find this spring? I hope I can get it fixed up. It's a great gun and fun to shoot. Also what would be a good way to get into all of the hard to reach areas to get all the residue out. Maybe some way to soak the parts and get them good and clean. I appreciate any help I can get.

also check Brownell's for gun parts. they also carry springs in different sizes allowing to custom make one if one isn't available.

Cool. I was really hoping that the gun isn't done. I have had a lot of guns and this is the only one I'll never get rid of.

First, contact Marlin Customer Service thru their website, and request an owner's manual.
Second- most 22 ammo IS rather dirty. There are foaming spray gun cleaners that can help flush out the crud (read the label, wear safety glasses when spraying) You also want a big box of the dollar store Q tips for hard to reach spots.

Would wd-40 hurt the gun. I use that stuff on everything but never used it on my rifles.

Not good. As a lube, it is pretty poor (about equal to kerosene) and dries to a gum. There are much better products for guns. I use it for one thing- it does a great job of displacing water- which is what WD stands for.
And NO- I am not old enough to remember WD-20, no matter what the mob says!

Many people use it including myself many will tell you not to. Bobs gun parts and hoosier gun works are two other sites with tons of parts for obsolete and older guns.

i just recently started using Kano Kroil and it's an awesome product. works as degreaser, penetrant, a lightweight lube, bore and fouling remover, a rust remover, ect. i think if you try it out once, you will become a believer in it like me. the stuff just works great.
