I have a iver johnson pony that wont extract fired rounds. I have changed the extractor and polished the chamber and am still having the same issue. Any input on what else it maybe?

Does it extract an unfired shell?
How well does the extractor fit over the rim of the casing?
It seems that there are two different extractors (11a and 11b). Do you have the correct one? Could you be missing the extractor spring (13)?

Yes it will extract rounds done manually and the gun has the 11b style extractor thats on the parts list on numrich. Does that extractor need a spring.

Failure to Extract is kind of unusual. The only time I experienced that with any gun was with Wolff ammo where the laquer they coated the rounds with flaked off in the chamber so that on the third shot everything just stuck together. Are you sure you don't mean failure to Eject?

If the 11b, it should not (part of the extractor acts like a spring).

Have you tried to shoot it "gangsta" style (with ejection port up)?

Will it load empties? How do they extract?

Are you using "steel cased" ammo? As stated above, they could cause extraction / ejection problems.

I'm highly doubtful that your extractor is the problem.

Cant figure it out i changed the extractor and still not working

going to send it out to get fixed, maybe.

I don't think the action is opening all the way. I think the extractor is working fine. It is pulling the shell out but putting it back again as it is not opening far enough to hit the ejector. When it doesn't extract is the hammer recocked? If the hammer is down I'm right. If the hammer is cocked I'm wrong.

Im pretty sure its something with the extractor or chamber. The slide does go all the way back the the round stays half way in the chamber on stuck on the breech face half way ejected
