While that sounds like an interesting "bling" project. some parts may not be ideal for plating.
Especially where parts rub together.

Check plating shops in your area. Gold can be plated like other materials (chrome, nickel, etc....)

So that he can have a nasty contraption like my Taurus 1911 in .38 Super? I bought it new 'closeout' from CDNN for $399 because NOBODY wanted a polished blue with gold accented 1911.

It would have been better if they had went with stainless and gold instead.

It's garish I know, but... it's a decent gun for the money. No offense to any but I consider it my 'Mexican Hitman' gun as opposed to a ghetto bling pistol. The .38 Super is/was the largest caliber you could legally own in Mexico so all the bad guys used them. All it needs is some crazy mother-of-pearl and gold grips that say "El Jefe" or "El Matador" to send it over the top. It shoots well enough and I wanted a .38 Super. It did come in polished stainless and gold as well. I chose this color combo. Cuidado!

I happily bought it and I'd buy it again. It's a nice 1911 and .38 Super is a good round.
