I am currently building myself a Winchester 1873 in .45 colt, another in .44-40, a third in .32-20 and 4th in .22 LR ..Started with empty receivers and lower tang and making all the other pieces. Few months ago I built one as a trapper length carbine in .22 LR .Uhhmm, barrel is off a Ruger 10-22 ;-) ...Obviously I am into the old guns.
I'm working on a Mosin Nagant 91/30. I'm looking to shoot around the 500yd area accurately. Are there any other rounds that can be worked for it? I thought about a 30-06 maybe. I just want something different. Maybe a 303? Any suggestions. Started making a scope mount. Custom bolt handle is next.
Thats what i was thinking. I actually like the round for the most part. Surplus ammo is cheap but the accuracy isn't what I want. A guy at the range I got to shoots at 600 yds regularly with his custom whatever. It would be fun to do the same with a Mosin Nagant just to show him you dont have to spend a ton of cash to shoot that distance accuratly.
