What's the ballpark on a 18" heavy barrel chambered for 260rem to fit a remington 700? Or is there a place said barrel already in stock and available?

"Pre made" and that price may be low. I don't know if you can get a "pre made" barrel for that 700 in 18" long MTU contour. My 260 Rem. runs. a 26" Bartlein
#7 MTU contour barrel which runs $310.00 less any required gunsmith work. I have herd of barrels as short, in "pre made" types, as 21".

I think you will have to buy a 22" or 21" off the shelf and have a gunsmith cut it down to 18". You will loose a fair bit of muzzel velocity especially with the 6mm or 6.5mm cartridges in this short of configuration.

Try Grizzley Tool or ARX Enterprise as they may have barrels on the shelf that you can have cut down.

Why do you want to go so short? Brush gun? Tactical competitions?

Yes a knock around brush/hunting gun. Wanted it in carbine length and 300yards is pushing the limits of my hunting areas. As for the inevitable question, I have an old 700 lying around and want something unique.

Well that would make an excellent brush gun in that length barrel.
