matt an satin finish is achieved by bead blasting

Maybe I will take a pic outside in better light so you can see the grain better. I think this is how stainless should look, like the stone tigereye almost. Now I'm curious what maroon pad would have looked like but I'd hate to redo.

That looks really good I tried the same thing just to give a two tone look but was scared on removing too much with the wheel so I went at it by hand. Nice job!!!
