How much trouble is it to cut a 24" hbar down to 18"? I hope it's nothing more than a straight cut, dress the muzzle end and reblue. I'm not putting a brake on it or flash suppresor. Thanks for all helpful input

Pretty straightforward- probably a lathe cut, and crown or turn the muzzle- HOWEVER- gas tubes are usually calculated with barrel length. Changing barrel length MAY require a change in the gas tube. I make no claim to engineering expertise with design of AR style rifles, and hopefully someone with greater knowledge will stumble along in a minute.

AR barrell cut/ 24" to 18"

Thanks for input. I don't believe gas tube will be involved with the cut, thank goodness, just a "trim" down to approx. 4" away from front sight and beginning of gas tube. I like your straight forward idea with at the same time remaining consciencious (? spelling) to other areas that could be compromised. I appreciate your reply

Paul- what I was refering to was how much barrel is left for the bullet to travel once it passes the gas tube. Gas will be fed down that tube only until bullet reaches muzzle. Tube and muzzle too close to each other COULD in theory affect cycling of weapon.

:)I see, so there's probably a min. distance from gas tube to muzzle distance. Thanks again
