I've read that polishing a shotgun barrel will help improve patterns especially in Mossbergs. I'd like to do this to my 835 Turkey gun and saw the Flex hones for doing this but had some questions. I am a very experienced Machinist and have actually used flex hones for polishing bores in Aerospace parts however I have never used them on a gun barrel. Has anyone on this site done this before and if so, can they give me any tips or recommendations?

What you want to do is run a long forcing cone reamer in the barrel 1st to lengthen the forcing cone. Then you hone the barrel using honing oil or Kroil. Use the courser stones 1st then graduate to the finer stones. Go to World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools - BROWNELLS for everything you'll need. Be SURE to use gun barrel hones and NOT brake cylinder hones as they're too course.

How good of an affect would this have on a 16.5 inch mossberg 500 patterning?

And I highly suspect its illegal to do this to a Taurus Judge that I only want to shoot 410 shotshells out of, am I correct?
