AK Bolt Hold Open when last round is spent
Well, I'm asking the question just like the title describes.
So, what I would like a new AK build to do is:
Is this possible with the AK platform? |
All of that sounds like some serious re-engineering.
I have solved a small part of the problem. I cut a notch in the top of the safety lever to manually hold the bolt open as an additonal safety. I carry the rifle with the bolt locked open and a full magazine. When I am ready to fire, dropping the lever releases the bolt, loads a round and takes it off safety. |
Well, essentially, I'd like it to act like an AR-15.
I just didn't know if I should do a what you described plus the magazine notch that some people cut to make the bolt stop. The only thing I think it would be missing is that the safety lever wouldn't magically fly up to stop the bolt so you can remove the magazine. Any thoughts? |
What you want is a Sig.

This one has bolt hold open, but it isn't exactly an AK. I don't think i understand how you want it to chamber a round with the bolt close. When the bolt is closed, the chamber is sealed. ??? |
Basically, I want an AK that acts like an AR in action.
So, when the the last round is fired is when it's most important. Mostly because I need it to be able to hold the bolt back while I change the magazine. Once it's changed, I'd like to be able to pull on the handle, release and it chambers a round with the new magazine in. To answer the sig suggestion and the czech-point, those are a little out if my price range ad when I say a little the sig one is like twice my budget. I'm trying to build an AK with that type of functionality. I didn't know if there was any dremeling or something that can do to the standard AK to achieve that. Thanks all! ^_^ |
