|
1911 style pistol
I have a 1911 style gun the slide wont go all the way back and come off it feels like there is something holding it the button releases fine but the slide is jammed any suggestions

Ive been into guns for around a month maybe I can help. I shoot once a week and come home disassemble, clean, and reassemble. Ok now did you pop out the slide release? If so then is probibly the part next to your sear. Hold your pistol upside down with your ejection port over your mag well area then rotate your pistol back to normal stance. Ive had this problem before with reassembly never dissasembly.

"The slide won't go all the way back and come off." That sounds like the slide removal procedure of a fixed barrel handgun.
On a 1911, most slides cannot be removed like that. Normally, the slide stop is removed and the slide slid forward. And I am not aware of a button release.

Bersa, Walther PPK, and others are disassembled by pushing a button, or moving the trigger guard, and pulling back the slide and lifting at the end of travel.
I thought that is what he meant by "The slide wont go all the way back and come off"

Drop into the neighborhood smith's shop.
Offer to pay $25 for a lesson on disassembly and reassembly (most won't accept the money).
If something is broken, it had to go to the smith anyways.
