KaBar still makes a good knife, shown here is my KaBar " Warthog" top and below my Paragon OTF.

I also like the D2 Queen and 1095 Moore Maker slipjoints you mentioned.

I loved the Schrade Old Timers before their QC went to hell for a while before they went under. I still have several. I recently lost my 8OT 4" stockman, which was one of my all-time favorite pocketknives.

Me, "well what kind is it?"
Him, "I dunno. I know is a butterfly knife because it has a butterfly stamped on the blade."

Me, "Oh really? Sure I'll take it, why not? You sure you wanna sell it that cheap?"
Him, "yeah, it was given to me a long time ago, and I only play with it sometimes. It's not my style."

Lo and behold, it's identical to the one I was going to buy from the guy on Facebook. A pre-benchmade, I guess Pacific cutlery? Balisong. Minus the sheath I would've gotten through the other guy, plus a few more dings and nicks.

Sometimes a man gets lucky. Do I feel like I took advantage of him, buying a knife worth nearly $200 in slightly better condition, for $5? No. Not really. I didn't try to talk him down, and he's the one who offered.
I just called Benchmade. This isn't even a Pacific Cutlery knife. This is from back when the company was a small start up in California (they're now in Oregon and have been for quite a while) and was simply known as "Bali-Song".

It dates from somewhere between 79-88. Bali-Song became Pacific Cutlery in 88.

They said they'll still warranty it.

My favorite pocket knife of all time is the Victorinox SD

The Gerber Gator hatchet/knife combo are also always with me when I'm out in the woods.

These were recalled I believe -- wasn't the axe-head flying off or something?

Now I have some collector wanting to trade me a "user" knife for this "highly collectible" knife. I told him I don't buy **** to collect, I buy it to use, and he almost had a freaking infarction.

I'll see what he has to offer.
