hmmm... A selection of bowies, bayonets, fighting knives, daggers and khukris and a short(ish) broadsword by the bed. Several hawks, 2 sabers and a war axe in the other rooms. A spear and an assagai by the front door. I dunno which I would go for first, either the 10 inch Camillus bowie or one of my khukris. Their are several khukris of Nepalese, not Indian, origins.. one is over 150 years old and a half inch thick or better at the spine. Generally I prefer the Nepalese-made Ghurka khuk, broad-arrow marked and dated to ww2.. similar in look to the present day Indian-made but much better edge...
But frankly Im a bit old and less than healthy to be flailing about with chunks of steel when heh there is a .357 S&W with my name on it and a 12 ga pump cop shotgun (ret) right there. The dog died recently and I need to get another... |

Well for me I will always have my 12 Gauge DB loaded with Buck and my 357 S&W close by. But if they weren't there: I am a Navy vet (6yrs) and retired LEO (32 yrs) but I am also 73 Yrs old, So I would depend largely on Hodge my 105 lb German Shepard who will alert and on Command attack anything or anyone. So I sleep feeling very secure. Last edited by Retcop; 01-06-2012 at 08:10 AM. |

Rottwieller stands gaurd over me and my family. So far never had to do anything more than bark to back people off the porch. |

I've got a Kershaw 1550 ST Black Out folding knife that I keep near the door and carry when I walk the dog. We also have the old fashioned Maglite flashlights and billy clubs. |

I know many are joking around, so this is not meant to take a shot at you. But coming from a long Law Enforcement background, I can tell you that “most…not all…prob 99%” of dogs do not bite. They will bark and growl like crazy, but keep backing up. So for the “most” part, they make a great internal house alarm.

I have German Shepherd / Boxer mix who would defend me, but probably only if I'm alone. He's a momma's boy, so he defends me from my husband, and if I'm by myself, he will not let a man anywhere near me. He doesn't bark, but he gets in between me and the man, keeps his head down, and growls and snarls. If it's a woman who approaches me, or if I have someone with me, he's the sweetest, clingiest mutt ever. The only training he's had is from me, and I never trained him to do that, he's a smart boy.
I also have two swords, and a nice hunting knife my grandfather made __________________ Glock 19 Bersa Thunderstorm 380 |
