Would you want it incorporated into the handle? Make the handle out of a durable but hard synthetic material that would also reduce vibration.

My idea is that the tomahawk head is one piece. I don't want the handle being a support piece for the spike in any way.

Now, if the tomahawk design can be a full tang, and then wrapped in something like a poly-carbonate or other insulating media, that could be interesting.

Sorry, just found this.

I have a SOG hawk that I haven't gotten around to testing yet. It's essentially a Nam hawk.

So it's a tried and true design, but is it a thrower?

Let me give this some thought.
