I had the privilege to use a halligan tool while being a volunteer firefighter and ended up buying one for myself there are many uses for it it is heavy but the weight works for you when you are trying to make a forced entry with the tool.

I was thinking of using it as a halligan tool substitute.

There is no substitute. I've used Halligan tools for just about everything a professional rescuer could possibly use one for and never had one fail. I've also used demonstrator tools from companies trying to improve on the design. There is no substitute for a Halligan tool for forcible entry hand tools.

Something that may fit your needs better might be the Pry Axe from Paratech. We also had these on the trucks and they work well. They don't give you the leverage you get from a Halligan, but the extending handle can be used as a slide hammer to force the fork in. Not exactly stealthy, but it does work.
