Default SOG Knives

I need a new pocket knife and I saw the SOG Trident knife in the Walmart ad for $50. Anyone have this knife? Are they good? Is SOG a reliable brand? Thanks

44,

I can not help you with the specific knife you are talking about. But I can tell you SOG makes very good knives. I have had their Seal Pup Model for several years!

I've got two, an early model Tomcat, (no one-handed operation), and a Flash I partial serration. The Flash has good fit and finish, feels good in my hand. Two things I don't care for are the small pocket clip and the safety. Takes a while to get used to. The Buck 110 is generally regarded as the yardstick other folders are measured by. MHO, the Tomcat's every bit as good. It's as good a folder as you'll ever put in your hand.

SOG has moved some of their production offshore and I have a Made in the USA policy on knives. I bought a Seal Pup a couple years ago and now I see what is on the shelves are all Made in Taiwan. I believe this model is as well. It is a good looking tactical style knife but my pick for a pocket knife is the Kersaw Leek.

I've owned Flash II for at least a year or so. Works great, and it's quite well built for what I paid, which couldn't have been more than about $30.

Get the Buck 110 or 112 if you want a folder! You won't be sorry.

SOG is a very reputable company with a great product.

Gunny Approved... Nuff said.

Anything Gunny approved is fine for me! But for the Taiwan made, to me, it's better than China or Pakistan. IMO

I have a Trident with the straight blade and I like it a lot!! I also know a man who is on his third one because he keeps losing them! He has the one with the serrations on part of the blade because of the work he does! Mine is easy to keep sharp and it opens easily and also has a lock for both open and closed positions! I also have a Seal Pup which I haven't used a lot but I do like it!
