Recently I heard that you shouldn't use silicone oil in pellet guns with metal pistons, I have been using it in my guns piston for a while now, what do I do?

Clean it all out asap, it turns to a gritty/sandy grinding paste anywhere there is metal to metal or even metal to plastic friction.

I just use it very sparingly and very rarely on rubber seals to stop them drieing up and cracking etc.

Are you sure, it has been working fine, only thing is that it is making a kind of squeaky ticking sound when I pump it, I've been using this for a couple months

Pellet guns are lubricated with silicone grease from the factory. Petroluem distillates will destroy the seals in your pellet gun. That is why it is a very bad idea to use gun oil on the compression cylinder of your pellet gun. You should never need to lubricate the cylinder of a pellet gun. You need to lubricate the linkage of the cocking mechanism. See the Charlie Da Tuner website for more information. Buy a trigger from "The Tuner" you will not regret it.

This is not a break barrel, it's a pump, the M4177

I used a bit to much on my 1377 bolt probe seal, it got between the brass bolt and plastic reciever and turned to a gritty paste... horrible stuff but good for seals and preserving metal work against cocorrosion.

Well I've always understood that is causes galling around metals and can even destroy your airgun. Have a read of this as one example.

Ben organised a demonstration this afternoon at his workshop which involved revolving a steel bar in his lathe and then winding another piece of steel against its side. With no lubrication at all the two pieces of steel slide together but once a few drops of silicone oil was applied the steel immediately started to be worn away in a very disturbing manner. Clear evidence if any were needed at the instant destructive ability of this oil on sliding metal surfaces.

I saw no damage in the piston, only on the lever which isn't in the piston
