I have one with a brass horse hame on it I keep a cane around due to back issues that have caused nerve damage that effects my legs. It's a twisted shaft like the one in he vid, just has a brass horse hame attached to it. It would smash anything hit with it. Probably turn a skull into a beanbag. I'll try to snap a pic later.

*Edit to add*

Here's a pic of my two canes.

I figure if I"m going to have to use one of these dang sticks I want something that looks a little....different.

that's what I was thinking, different, but also added self defense.

Do you put a rubber tip on the end of your canes? The very bottom is cut off the picture.

I've found the rubber tip to be a big improvement for actually using it to walk.

Yes, an actual cane the tip is pretty much essential for walking on pavement. The longer walking sticks like hikers use usually are not used on pavement so they often don't have the tips. At least that was what I gleened form peopel thast make the things.
That one with the hame is deadly The other one just kind of looks cool

Here is my stick. I've got a bum knee so I use it everwhere. I havent had any problems with it haveing an tomahawk headed on it. The wood is scrap from a bannister. The head is a cheap 440 steel tomahawk that I had laying around. I put a crutch tip on the end. It was still a little slippery so I got an old pair of slip resitain shoes, cut out a peace and expoxed it to the bottom. Carved my family motto on it the painted and sealed it. Its a fine fist try, now Im looking for a better top.

Heh, this thread makes me pretty happy. I got to thinking I might be the only one that had a gimp stick that could pass for a weapon if need be. I see thme online fomr time to time but I never see them out on the wild.

Less than stellar quality pic but here's two of my "be cool" walking canes.
Left with the face of the mountain man is cedar and I got it up in the mtns of N.C..
The dragon cane on the right is teak and was made in Vietnam and unscrews into three pieces.

Nah, just the angle.
Here's a couple more.
That's a 10 ga cap on the end.

Here's my new hammer cane. I took it to work and it didn't seem to attract any attention.

One bad thing is it's top heavy, so I make sure to flip it over with the head on the floor when not in use.

I like that this hammer could breach any common door easily.
