Shillelagh - cool walking cane/weapon for my ankle
I've started getting "gout" flare-ups in my ankle occasionally. This latest flare-up convinced me to get a cane for next time I need a cane. I wanted to get something a bit cooler though. Here's the 2 canes I ordered...

Cold Steel Irish Blackthorne Walking Stick (aka Sillelagh pronounced shi-LAY-lee)

Neat history about the Shillelaghs too which were Irish main weapon when the English occupied them and banned all weapons. They couldn't ban their walking sticks though. Look at the Celtics logo too is an Irish guy with a Shillelagh.

Video on this Cold Steel Shillelagh...

United survival hammer (walking hammer)

Here's a fun video for the United Hammer...

United also makes a walking axe too. I decided on the hammer so I could go anywhere without drawing too much attention.

I have knee issues. On rare occasions I've had to use this...

Nice sturdy aluminum body. I would not recommended getting hit by it.

That will do a number on the BG. I have seen real Irish Blackthorn canes in a museum. They are rumored to be very hard and will easily crack a skull. Cold Steel makes interesting self defense tools.

Here's a pic of my Cold Steel Blackthorne. I've already used it a couple days and even went through a security checkpoint with no questions too. My ankle wasn't hurting anymore, but I just wanted to walk around with it.

I put a 7/8" rubber cane tip on it. A recommendation online said they put a 1" cane tip, but in the store I found the 7/8" to be a snug perfect fit.

My hammer cane is in UPS transit scheduled to arrive Wednesday.

I've got one myself. Want to learn traditional stick fighting but don't know anyone in this area who could teach me.

I have one I bought for my Dad in Ireland. He's gone but now I need it. It could be quite the head knocker!:D
