I EDC the Kershaw Blur and really like it. Super sharp, easy to open, solid and balanced.

My next knife may be this one: the CRKT M16-14SF Big Dog Aluminum Tanto Blade AUS 8. It's under $65 at Amazon.

Have you considered the Mil-Tac? They are on sale right now and they offer a discount to FTF as well.

MTF-1 9" Folder w/ G10 Handles (Black) - K-MTF1-004

I still have the pen I got in the FTF deal with them, I use it every day. Good company, they hooked us up with a deal, I suggest at least giving them a look before you buy.

I have to say the Kershaw. There's something about a Kershaw knife,I have about a dozen of them, and use the crap out of them.

I have a couple SOG and CRKT knives, but they don't seem to have near the quality of a Kershaw. They also don't hold an edge very long.

Just sharing something that I read somewhere else.

"The discounted silver blade Blurs on Amazon use cheaper 420HC steel. Normal Blurs use 14C28N or S30V steel."

I can attest that the new Blur that I bought recently from Amazon is stamped 420HC.

Concerning the SOG and Kershaw you posted in the original comment: remember that funky-shaped blades are always a pain to sharpen.

Tango, Thanks for this thread.

And Poink, thanks for this post. Was trying to decide whether or not to get this knife. At this price, with free shipping, it's a no brainer!

I've been using this for over 6 yrs now on a daily basis and in construction business, I rarely abuse it, but some times it have been abused.
After all these yrs, it needs some sharpening and Spyderco does it complimentary, you just pay shipping both ways, good deal IMO.

Spyderco Tasman Salt Black FRN

Along the lines with what you posted, you may like these:

Spyderco Salt I Black FRN

Spyderco Pacific Salt Black FRN

All are made of a new alloy called H1, hard as 420 and it will not rust even in sea water, I know this for a fact, the FRN handle is tough as hell, I've pried with mine many times and though that the handle would break, but have never give up on me, again, I rarely abuse it, but many times I had to abuse it and it have never let me down, hands down the best knife I've ever own.
