I would like to have the three that make-up my personal outdoor crew---my EDC; a Spyderco Delica 4---clipped to my pocket virtually every single day. My real outdoor knife (and the one that would be my choice if limited to just one) is my Fallkniven A1---just a tad over six inch blade of laminated stainless---tough like a truck---could do most anything required of a knife! And finally, the smaller (14") Gerber/Friskers axe---because knives are for cutting---axes are for chopping...

Buck 119 Special

I have carried one since 1969 and it has been from Glacier National to the Rio Grand, from the San Bernardino mountians to the Washington Monument, Custer's Last Stand to the Battlefieds of Gettysburg, from the Black Hills to the swamps of Louisiana and all places inbetween.

Actually I have two of them one that's 44 years old and one that is only 18 years old both are still in exceptional condition.

Benchmade of any kind. Never been disappointed by them.

SOG Seal pub. I carried 2 with me in Afghanistan and still have one of them and use it as a hunting knife. If not that then a Boker Kris type folder.

A well regarded and pretty affordable fixed blade knife.
