The Forum title said knlfe questions go here so, I have a single blade folding Barlow with a "Jowika Republic of Ireland " on the blade. Was Barlow an Irish brand before being an American brand ? (and now a Chinese brand)

"Barlow" has two meanings in the knife world. First, it designates a style of knife that was first made in Sheffield, England in the late 1600's, but was also made in the U.S. shortly thereafter.

Secondly, there was a Barlow Knife Company, which produced inexpensive knives of this style, and in the past few years these were used as advertising products. I suspect you knife falls into this last category.

Thanks Txpossum. I looked up "Sheffield" as a brand and it seems to me that the city of Sheffield is similar to Solingen Germany as a city where many different brands are manufactured?
