Well I tried a simple pattern and I really like it. Now to do some drilling and cut some wood.

I like how the tang has one pattern, then the double notch and a different pattern right there for a thumb grip. Awful good looking.

Thanks trip. I had drawn up a more difficult pattern but I didn't like it on my practice scrap, so I went simple with a little accent for the thumb. Also the underside pattern is done with a bigger file than the top I wanted more back and forth before the thumb rest and it didn't seem like it needed anything else. Just a nice simple pattern seems to be the best route sometimes. I hope to have the wood done tonight and clamped up.
