I saw this thread and wondered what the **** is a Karambit? I have seen them but did not know what they were or were called.
What is their main purpose! Are they a fighting knife?

Yes they are. They are designed for fluid movement use and quick whipping defensive stabs. They are extremely nasty in trained hands.
This particular model is designed correctly so that when you grab it and draw it from your pocket it automatically deploys.
Many are designed upside down and backwards.
