Definitely. Get on the rust protection and stuff now, though. Does it have anything that would tell you what service it's from on it?

In my completely unprofessional, yet semi-experienced, opinion, that would be an Arisaka's bayonet. Antique and spoils of war, though I believe it is legal for you to keep.
And judging by the way it was sharpened, I'd have to say it either saw use, or was ready for use. It was sharpened more than just the edge it came with, though I don't know much about Japanese training which might account for it. Whoever owned it going into the war meant to use it, whether or not he did.

Nice, i picked one up kinda like it when i was 14 and still have it put away in storage, i guess i got lucky and mine has the name of the german officer it belonged to, the can be worth any where from 100 to 300 if its a common one and for a rare one with names on it they can go for around 1200. Right now on craigslist by me there is a guy selling a bunch of them, pm me and ill send you a link, im sure he can give you some info.

I have a unissued sks with a bayonet and it wont cut a fart , this one has lots of gooey cosmoline on the blade and has much more of an edge but not sharp enough to cut you. I was hoping some one would know the hallmark stamped on it . I have a ariska and come to think of it i think thats what its for , ill try when i get home , i was kinda hoping it was for a m1 but if it fits that p.o.s ariska then so be it , at least it will be a more effective weapon now other than being a club lol

Arisaka Type 30 bayonet. Made in Nagoya arsenal. Early production indicated by the hooked quillion (which, by the way, was intended to catch and hold your opponent's bayonet or sword.

C3's right... Type 30 Arisaka bayonet from Nagoya arsenal, pre-1937. They called the hook a "blade breaker"... The blade is supposed to be "dull" but soldiers usually sharpened the first half of the blade (mines that way too ) It fits both the type 38 and type 99 Arisakas.
