Condor Golak
I went to Medford this morning and on my way home stopped at Sportsman's Warehouse. I wanted to pick up some ammunition, but the shelves were pretty much bare.

So I wandered around for a while and just enjoyed looking at all the cool stuff. I wound up at the knife counter and looked at a few knives. I saw a nice Becker, but it was overpriced. I also checked out two Condor machetes they had. The first one was 24" and a typical shaped blade. I liked the length, but the blade was extremely thin, maybe an eighth of an inch. The other one was a Golak.

Now I'm not normally a fan of a Kukri or similar blade profile, but I fell in love with this one. It's got some beautiful lines and it's stout. It's not that long, the blade measures 14.5" in length, but it's a quarter of an inch thick tapering down to an eighth of an inch at the point. It has three pins and a lanyard tube in the handle and an excellent, very, very thick leather sheath. It cost about twenty bucks more than the other one and it's shorter, but I think it's well worth the trade off in length and the extra dough. I have knives that cost a heck of a lot more and they won't see the use this will get.

The edge is pretty dull, but I'll change that. It's 1075 carbon steel, so it should sharpen well and hold a good edge. It will also have to stay oiled to prevent rust.

I bought it to hack down some of the bushes and saplings around the property. We're overrun with blackberry's and Scottish Broom and it will serve as a fine zombie wacker in a pinch.

Dammit, I forgot yours. :o

BTW, the bolsters are pinned, not riveted. I'll change it in the first post.

It was fifty five bucks, but I'm sure they can be had online for less.

Thats really not that bad of a price. is that gonna be part of your EDC from now on? It should be.

It will be part of my EDC when I'm gardening. ;)

Yeah, I bought a Golok about a year ago---decently sharp as delivered---used for keeping my large yard (many trees) under control---I think I paid $48 online w/sheath, no tax, no shipping charge. A very useful tool---like a thick machete---I can recommend it...
