Check out my homemade push dagger.
I have admired the antique push daggers in books, but have never seen one in person. I guess most of the market was out west, the center of manufacture being San Francisco. So for giggles I cut one out of 1/4'' plate left over from a bent trailer hitch I had to replace on a wrecked vehicle at work. It's 7 1/4'' long including the grips,, the blade is 1 1/2'' at the widest point and 5 1/4'' long. I cut it to rough shape with an angle grinder, then shaped it with my disc grinder. I final sanded the blade and handle with my orbital sander. Hand polished to finish with MAAS metal polish and old t-shirts. Being a 1/4 thick tempering wasn't needed, it will do a real stick job, LOL. The grips I cut from Oak....

Cane it took about 2 hrs to cut and shape the dagger, and about 4 hrs in front of the TV in my command center (recliner) to polish it out...

LOL- I was wondering when somebody was gonna ask that....I do paint and body work for a living, the doubleside 3M foam tape that holds auto side mouldings on your car doors has held these scales on for almost a year, no problem. Cheap, effective and easy! Not traditional but worked for me!

You've clearly got some talent. Symetrical dagger blades are quite unforgiving and show mistakes very easily, the same goes for mirror type polishes.
Well done, mate. Don't stop! Make more. Some of the bigger names in the business got their start with projects like this.
