Chainsaws for self defense?

With all the chainsaw wielding crazies in the movies, I wonder if you can actually use one for selfdefense?

You be sure and let me know how that works for you.

Depends, but would NOT be ny choice!

Too loud, too easily defeated by an opponent with a firearm. In an emergency, I suppose it would work fine, but I'd still rather have a good shotgun for up close work. Maybe the chain saw afterwards.....

:p

If you are

- Trapped in time
- Surrounded by evil
- Low on gas

a chain saw can be invaluable. After all, it worked for Ash.

Is this even a real question? I think I'd rather have a large stick than a chainsaw. Have you ever even picked up a chainsaw? Notice how heavy it is? Think you could swing that thing around and hack people with it for any length of time?

You might be better off just chucking it at the attacker and then running.

When the Ship Hits The Sand, use whatever it takes to survive. Are there more desireable options? Yes, but you use what you have. I can envision being in the mountains taking down a tree, and suddenly attacked by either 2, or 4 legged critters.
