I agree think about it people use to get stoned to death, at a leather strap to the mix and it can do some real damage (David vs Goliath). So really if you think about it, it wasnt a fair fight but the kid was capable of doing damage.

I agree also! A little extreme but I could certainly understand the anger they generated by destroying property.
I will bet they will think twice before they throw another rock at a vehicle. As stated I doubt very much if that is all they have been into! And I am certain they are not your normal American boys!

Really, it depends on what size rocks are being thrown. Plus, where it happened(linda vista) isn't the nicest area.

My mind reading skills are escaping me right now.
So I’m guessing this wasn’t the first time this kid was throwing rocks at cars. And that it might not have been the first time this driver was hit by his rocks. And maybe they went back with a loaded crossbow specifically to shoot this kid. Crossbows not being as easy to ‘load & cock’ and as a gun.

True, but i believe that in Our laws out here, a crossbow can be locked and cocked legally.

First of all, what was somebody in San Diego doing with a crossbow? And I can pretty confidently say that it wasn't meant to kill him. No spring loaded tips, and if a gut shot isn't a kill, the cb didn't have very much lbs of pull. They also didn't try to finish him off. And as a kid who used to pull this type of stuff, just not with rocks, I can say that if somebody pulled a crossbow on me, my friends and I would welcome it as a challenge.

Maybe California's many gun laws made it hard for him to get a gun. I don't think there are many laws concerning crossbows.

Sound like a better remedy than a solid a$$ whoopen from mom or dad would have accomplished. I'd bet he never throws rocks at cars again.
and kudos on the shot from a moving vehicle. That's pretty good.

Correct. "Muzzle loaders" and bows and arrows aren't heavily regulated. Yet.

Which is why I think the passengers were prepared to take the shot.
