Are Cane and Francisco the same person?

This is good, we're getting some consensus.

I cannot, personally, get past CS and their poopy head dismissal of our epic Spartan thread.

I was personally waiting for Francisco to stop by.

LET THIS BE KNOWN FORUM WIDE!!!

And I am going to quote this FOR HIM, in case he needs proof.

Francisco has given us plenty of very good, afforable, SHTF knives.

What do you guys want to see tested?

What, of those knives, tickles your knife buying fancy???

I can tell you this, Benning has some CRAZY ideas for his half of the fixed blade tests. I am talking serious, most humans will NEVER do this, type of tests.

So, and I mean this, pick a knife that you guys would buy IF the Space Zombies were inbound....

JD, could you post up a poll of maybe 5 or 6 of the best knives and we can google and evaluate and then vote? I'm a little lost clicking back and forth to try and select one.

Default Found this while searching for candidates..

United Gil Hibben III Combat Machete 11-1/4" Blade and Leather Sheath - Knifecenter.com
Looks like the old "Rambo III" bowie with a squared off tip
I'm not really suggesting it, just found it an interesting design--Gate

I believe Hibben designed the knife for the last Rambo movie.

Gil used to design really good, functional knives, then entered the realm of fantasy knife design, pumping out ornamental crap, with an annual collectors piece.

United cutlery? Meh.

Hibben Knives are what happens when genius goes awry.

We just have very similar (i.e. excellent) taste in blades.

Condor is a division of IMACASA, a tool factory started by German knife and sword maker Gebr. Weyesberg Company (later Weyesberg/Kirschbaum) in the '80s. IMACASA focused on machetes and agricultural tools. A few years ago, Condor was started as an effort to reach the US and European outdoors markets.

The first knife designs were rather goofy, but lately they've been working with folks from knife and bushcraft forums and have come up with a line of knives that's giving Moras (the traditional budget bushcraft knives) a run for their money.

They aren't beautiful or perfect, but they are usable and affordable, with reasonable quality.

You're too kind, JD. I just happen to have a little knife related OCD.

This seems like a good idea, unless there's a knife that both you and Benning like better than the others a poll would be the easiest way to choose.

I could have just taken the gut hook off it....

GerberGear > Product Details > Profile

but I understand your reasoning. I don't know why, I just have a hard time dropping a bunch of money into a knife. I'll wait for the poll and make my evaluation then.

I'm with you, not ruling anything out yet.

And I don't forsee this as another "I cut a penny, what about a nickel, then a quarter" set of challenges. We sort of want to keep this real world, but without the useless tests. In the real world, you have no reason to chop up currency.

Our vision is testing utilizing all the tasks you would need to do for real survival. But it has to remain functional to the point that when you're peeing in your depends, you can hand it off to your kid to fight the machines, and survive as well.

Keeping this entertaining won't be a challenge. I've got a real live demon from Hell in mind as part of the challenge. I'll elaborate more when we find our knife.
